Song of the Day: Dean Martin “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head”

Spring is finally in the air and I couldn’t be happier. I love the coziness winter brings, but there’s something about that warm air and sunshine that is so irresistible. If you read my other blog, you’ll know I spent most of today outside, trying to keep my irrational giddiness to a normal level. But I’ll be honest, there was a good deal of singing in the street and slight sachay-ing when listening to hits in the grocery store. I couldn’t help it. It’s spring guys.

That said whenever I feel bubbling joy I reach back for my big band boys—most notably Sinatra and Dean Martin. Because all this love (for spring in Paris) is totally a kick in the head.

I think there are a lot of love songs that serve a lot of different purposes. But for those moments when your heart is screaming loud and you want to swing and scream with it there is nothing better than Dean Martin. Those HORNS though. They are so uproariously joyful. It’s the best honeymoon love song. Ever. Made better by Dean Martin’s ultra sultry voice. He always sounds to me like he just jumped up there and isn’t even trying. Which makes it even hotter.

Basically this song is perfect for you if you are madly in love or super happy. Or getting married. Or a human being.

Happy spring everyone.
