Just a quick post to draw your attention to the fact that today is Billie Holiday’s birthday. One of the most influential jazz singers of all time (who never got the credit she deserved when she was alive), she’s one of the greatest enduring classics and inspired some of music’s great heavyweights, including Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, and Diana Ross (not to mention David Sedaris). She would be 100 today.
So to honor the great Lady who sang the blues, one more track today. Since I grew up with my mama introducing me to this incredible woman, I let her pick the song of the day:
